Murder of Elba Barrientos and her son in Acos-Vinchos

Elba Barrientos, president of the Mothers' Club of Acos-Vinchos in Huamanga, and her son were assassinated in 1984 during a PCP-SL raid. This assassination is part of the Shining Path offensive against leaders of popular women's organizations. The attack took place in the context of violence against community leaders who opposed the PCP-SL strategy.
