Rape in Parccocucho

In 1984, in the annex of Parccocucho, district of Vilcashuaman, department of Ayacucho, a case of rape occurred in the context of the internal armed conflict. The testimony mentions that two men picked up a girl and insulted her, accusing her of having relations with terrorists. Two hours later they brought the young woman naked and dead, with her right breast cut open, while the people, especially the women, screamed. This case illustrates the extreme sexual violence perpetrated against women accused of links with subversive groups.
