Rape in Chilcas
Detention and rape of a young woman and her teenage employee in Chilcas in 1984. The victims were tortured, including drowning and breast piercing with iron, before being raped.
In 1984, a woman of approximately 23 years of age came to visit a house in Chilcas with her baby and a teenage girl who was helping to take care of her. She was detained and five days later the maid returned to pick up her clothes and reported that the woman was still alive. According to the testimony, the first day they almost drowned her, the second day they cut a hole in her breast with iron, through which they hung her, and then both women were raped. The case illustrates the systematic sexual violence perpetrated against women during detentions in the context of the internal armed conflict.
