The Manta Military Base was installed in 1984 in the district of Manta, province of Huancavelica. Since its installation, there have been numerous cases of rape committed by military personnel against women of the civilian population. The actions of the military personnel of this base, together with the Vilca Base, deserve a separate comment according to the CVR report due to the seriousness and systematicity of the violations. As a result of these rapes, children were born who in many cases did not bear the father's real surname, since the raped women chose to register them with the nicknames by which the soldiers were known or with the father's military rank.
