MIR-EM prepares for war
In 1984, the MIR-EM in Ucayali began to prepare for war after consolidating its political work, but was discouraged when the MRTA Central Committee decided to prioritize the opening of a guerrilla front in Cuzco instead of Ucayali.
In 1984, the MIR-EM in Ucayali began to prepare for war, having previously consolidated its political recruitment work with the formation of student cells in the Young Towns of the city of Pucallpa and created the Committees of Coordination and Neighborhood Struggle (CCOLUB). However, these plans were discouraged by the preference of the MRTA Central Committee (formed by MIR-EM and PSR-ml) to open a Guerrilla Front in Cuzco and not in Ucayali. During that same year, the MIR-EM began its work of forming workers' cells in the unions of drivers, municipal and bank workers. In the provinces and districts of Ucayali, the MIR-EM already had militant cells made up mostly of teachers who managed to recruit farmers from nearby villages.
