Death of Flavia Gastelu

Flavia Gastelu was a leader of Rondas Campesinas in Ayacucho who was assassinated in 1984. She held the position of President or leader of the Rondas Campesinas. Her death is part of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso offensive against social leaders, particularly women community leaders. The case of Flavia Gastelu represents one of the first murders of female leaders recorded in the Peruvian internal armed conflict.
