Law enforcement casualties in 1984

In 1984, 27 members of the Peruvian security forces (15 from the Armed Forces and 12 from the Police Forces) died in the fight against armed subversion. This year represents 1.6% of the total number of law enforcement casualties during the internal armed conflict.

During 1984, Peruvian law enforcement suffered 27 fatal casualties in the context of the internal armed conflict, representing 1.6% of the total number of law enforcement casualties during the entire period under investigation. Of these casualties, 15 corresponded to the Armed Forces and 12 to the Police Forces. This year coincides with the time when the internal armed conflict most affected the general population, according to data reported to the TRC. The casualties occurred mainly in combats against subversive elements, ambushes and attacks on police posts.
