Third attack by the Shining Path PCP against the community of Uchuraccay on Christmas Eve 1983. The villagers collected their dead the next day with great fear that the attackers would return.
The third Shining Path PCP attack on Uchuraccay occurred on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1983. The villagers remember this attack precisely because of its association with the religious calendar, being the date of Christmas. According to testimonies, the attackers shouted threats of total extermination against the Uchuraccaínos. After the attack, no one had been able to sleep and in the morning everyone helped each other to collect their dead to wake and bury them, but they were very afraid that the attackers would return. This was one of the three main attacks that the villagers remember during 1983, along with those of May 20 and July 16.
