Third attack on Uchuraccay
Third attack by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso against the community of Uchuraccay on December 24, 1983, in which 8 peasants lost their lives. This was the last of three consecutive attacks that year that decimated the community.
On December 24, 1983, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso carried out its third bloody attack against the community of Uchuraccay. In this third attack, 8 more peasants lost their lives. This attack was part of a series of three PCP-SL raids against Uchuraccay in 1983: on May 20 (approximately 20 killed), July 16 (20 people killed) and this last one on December 24. In total, 135 dead out of 470 community members registered in the 1981 census, that is, one third of the population of Uchuraccay was killed by the violent action mainly of the PCP-SL and also the rondas of neighboring communities and towns.
