Shining Path leader Antonio Diaz Martinez captured

DIRCOTE (Directorate Against Terrorism) captured Antonio Diaz Martinez, who was a leader of the PCP-SL (Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path) since its beginnings. The Minister of the Interior pointed out that, with the capture of Antonio Diaz Martinez, for the first time, a prominent figure of the PCP-SL was captured. This capture represented an important milestone in the Peruvian government's counter-subversive struggle, being the first high-ranking Shining Path leader to fall into the hands of the authorities.
