Extrajudicial executions in Socos
Massacre of 29 peasants during marriage proposal party by Guardia Civil troops in Socos
On the night of November 13, 1983, during a traditional marriage proposal party (Yaycupacu), members of the former Civil Guard from the Socos detachment violently detained the attendees. They took them to the Quebrada de Balcón where, at approximately 2:30 a.m., they executed 29 peasants at point blank range, including women and children. Before the execution, they raped the young women. The bodies were covered with grenade explosions.
