Attack on Churcampa police station

Harassment attack by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso against the Churcampa police post on October 15, 1983, as part of actions to boycott the municipal elections and destroy the system of local authorities.

On October 15, 1983, militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso carried out a harassment attack against the Churcampa police post. This attack took place in the context of a series of subversive actions aimed at destroying the existing system of authorities and harassing police posts in the region. The action was part of the Shining Path strategy to boycott the municipal elections to be held in November of that year. The attack occurred after the Army installed counter-subversive bases in the area and before the municipal elections of November 1983.
