On October 9, 1983, a combined group of 35 Sinchis and members of the army arrived in three helicopters to the town of Ayalca, annex of Chalcos. They forced the villagers to gather in the main square. At the end of the meeting, about 60 people were locked up in the church and the municipality. Of these 60 people arrested, 18 were killed near the town of Pitecc. This event is part of the indiscriminate repressive action of the forces of law and order that stopped the will of many communities to organize against the PCP-SL.
