Court building in Acobamba dynamited
Dynamite attack against the court building in Acobamba in August 1983, as part of the PCP-SL's campaign to destroy the state infrastructure in the province.
In August 1983, the courthouse in Acobamba was dynamited. This attack occurred in the context of an intensification of PCP-Sendero Luminoso actions in the province, which included assassinations of peasants and attacks against public infrastructure. In the same month, in the community of Llamacancha, the Shining Path attacked five houses and several public buildings. This year marked the beginning of a systematic campaign of destruction of state infrastructure as part of the Shining Path's objective to 'empty the existing power' in the countryside.
