This attack took place in the context of the second wave of the First Military Campaign of the PCP-SL, which took place between July and October 1983. The attack occurred one day after the most serious power cut in the history of Lima, on July 21, and days before a strike decreed by the PCP-SL in Ayacucho on July 25 and 26.
