Mariano Ccasani Gonzáles, a community member from Uchuraccay, was arrested in Tambo on July 5, 1983 as one of only three defendants captured in the judicial process for the massacre of journalists. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison without proof of his direct participation in the events.

Mariano Ccasani Gonzáles was one of the three Uchuraccay community members arrested in the judicial process for the massacre of journalists on January 26, 1983. He was captured in Tambo on July 5, 1983, together with Dionisio Morales Pérez (arrested on May 17) and Simeón Auccatoma Quispe (arrested on July 20). During the oral trial, Ccasani Gonzáles, who was an evangelist and a Quechua speaker, expressed his difficulties in communicating with the magistrates, even requesting that they ask him questions "like a mortal person without trying to confuse him". He was finally sentenced to 15 years in prison for aggravated homicide in 1988, although his direct participation in the massacre was never proven.
