Proposed dialogue with PCP-SL by the Attorney General of the Nation
The Attorney General, Miguel Cavero Egúsquiza, proposed on June 20, 1983 to establish a dialogue with the PCP-SL. This proposal was made in the midst of the intensification of the internal armed conflict and military operations in Ayacucho.
The Prosecutor of the Nation, Miguel Cavero Egúsquiza, proposed to establish a dialogue with the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP-SL) on June 20, 1983. This proposal took place in a context of intense political violence and military operations in Ayacucho, where General EP Clemente Noel Moral had assumed military control. Subsequently, in August 1983, the same Prosecutor declared on the television program Panorama that the PCP-SL had its own 'patriotic sensibility' and that, in its own way, 'they want the best for Peru', generating controversy. This dialogue initiative did not prosper and violence continued to escalate in the following months.
