14 people murdered in Accocro

In June 1983, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso killed 14 people in Accocro, a district in the province of Huamanga. This event occurred in the context of the intensification of violence following the entry of the Armed Forces into the region in January 1983. Accocro was the scene of multiple massacres during 1983, this being one of the actions perpetrated by the Shining Path against the civilian population. The event is part of a series of massacres that occurred in rural Huamanga during that year, which also included attacks in Chiara and Socos.
