On May 27, 1983, there was a power cut in Lima that allowed the execution of several terrorist attacks. This event occurred in a context of intensified political violence, during the first wave of the First Campaign of the PCP-SL that was taking place between May and June 1983. As a consequence of this and other similar events, the government decreed a state of emergency throughout the country for sixty days on May 30. The power cut was used strategically to facilitate the realization of multiple simultaneous terrorist actions in the capital.
