Clash between PCP-SL and law enforcement in Paras
Clash in Paras left 6 policemen and 10 subversives dead; PCP-SL killed 6 community members in Huamballpa
On May 5, 1983, there was a confrontation between Shining Path elements and combined forces (Army and Police) in the town of Paras, which resulted in 6 victims among the security forces and 10 among the subversives. On the same date, the subversives murdered six community members in the town of Huamballpa for collaborating with the police.
