Murder of 18 peasants in Juquiza and Ocros
On April 20, 1983, the PCP-SL assassinated 18 peasants in Juquiza and Ocros, Cangallo province, Ayacucho, for refusing to follow their slogans and for being registered on a list as "government dogs".
On April 20, 1983, a subversive column of the PCP-SL entered Juquiza, province of Cangallo, Ayacucho, and killed 18 peasants who were registered on a list for being considered "government dogs". The peasants were executed for refusing to follow PCP-SL slogans. This event occurred in the context of an intense military offensive in rural areas and small towns in the department of Ayacucho, where serious human rights violations were taking place.
