Murder of 18 peasants in Juquiza

On April 20, 1983, the PCP-SL assassinated 18 peasants in Juquiza, province of Cangallo, Ayacucho, because they were considered government collaborators and refused to follow their slogans.

On April 20, 1983, a subversive column of the PCP-SL entered Juquiza, province of Cangallo, Ayacucho, and killed 18 peasants. The victims were registered on a PCP-SL list because they were considered "government dogs". This occurred in the context of an intense military offensive in rural areas and small towns in the department of Ayacucho, where serious human rights violations were taking place. The peasants were killed for refusing to follow the slogans of the PCP-SL.
