Murder of 18 peasants in Juquisa

On April 20, 1983, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso assassinated 18 peasants in Juquisa, Ocros, Cangallo, for refusing to follow their slogans and for being considered "dogs of the government". This was part of the Shining Path's strategy of eliminating those they considered enemies in their control of rural territory.

On April 20, 1983, in Juquisa, district of Ocros, province of Cangallo, 18 peasants were killed by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. The victims were executed for refusing to follow PCP-SL slogans and for being registered on a Shining Path list as "government dogs". This event is part of the PCP-SL's strategy to "beat the countryside" by assassinating authorities and people considered "enemies", a central action in its proposal for territorial control. The collective assassination occurred in the context of the military offensive initiated in 1983 and the intensification of violence in the area.
