Death of Patrocinio Quicha Espinoza et al.
Four SUTEP leaders (Patrocinio Quicha Espinoza, Hernán Gutiérrez Araujo, Virgilio Huaranca and Estilo Ayala) were assassinated between April 10 and 14, 1983 in Cangallo and Huamanga by the Civil Guard. This event is part of the violations of freedom of association documented before the ILO.
Patrocinio Quicha Espinoza, Hernán Gutiérrez Araujo, Virgilio Huaranca and Estilo Ayala, all members of SUTEP (Sindicato Único de Trabajadores en la Educación del Perú), were killed between April 10 and 14, 1983 in the towns of Cangallo and Huamanga. These events occurred in the context of the repression against union leaders and workers during the national strike. The information is recorded in the complaints filed with the ILO (International Labor Organization) on violations of freedom of association in Peru. Those responsible were identified as members of the Civil Guard.
