Detention, torture and execution of four community members from Totos by the military in Ccarpaccasa
On April 8, 1983, members of the Civil Guard (Sinchis) and the Army under the command of 'Captain Jackal' arbitrarily detained five peasants from Totos: Julio Godoy Bellido, Primitivo Tucno Medina, Marceliano Zamora Vivanco, Roberto López León and a brother of one of them. They were held at the military base for nine days, tortured and deprived of food and water. On the night of April 17, they were taken to Ccarpaccasa where four of them were shot while tied up. One managed to escape.
