Installation of military base in Totos
Establishment of Army military base in Totos education center
Between April 4 and 6, 1983, Peruvian Army helicopters arrived in the town of Totos, took possession of the local educational center and established a military base. The base operated under the command of the 43rd Motorized Infantry Battalion from Huancavelica, which depended on the Cangallo barracks. After settling in, the troops registered the population and urged them not to collaborate with the Shining Path.
