Entry of PCP-SL to Santa Rosa mine

In March 1983, PCP-SL militants entered the Santa Rosa mine in Carhuancho. Days later, on March 7, military personnel detained and disappeared eight people accused of belonging to the subversion.

In early March 1983, a contingent of PCP-SL militants entered the Santa Rosa mine, located in the town of Carhuancho, district of San Pedro de Coris in Churcampa. On March 7, military troops arrived at the mine in response to the Shining Path incursion. The military arrested and took away eight people in a vehicle: Segundino Fernandez Huamán, Julio Huamán Fernández, Urbano Huamán Noa, Alejandro Huamán Ramos, Ángel Huamán Fernández, Jesús Fernández Huamán, Leoncio Ayala Velarde and Francisco Quispe, accused by the military of being members of the subversive ranks. These people disappeared after their arrest.
