Army intervened in Sancos killing 14 people after Sacsamarca rebellion

On the third day after the Sacsamarca rebellion, members of the Army arrived in Sancos aboard two helicopters. The population that had gathered in the square to attend a popular trial decided to escape. The military fired indiscriminately, killing 14 people, among them nine subversives and two young ladies who had come from Lima on vacation. The Army freed the Sacsamarca prisoners and appointed local authorities.
