Exhumation of the body of Juan Argumedo

Second judicial proceeding in Uchuraccay to exhume the body of Juan Argumedo García, a guide murdered along with the journalists on January 26, 1983. The exhumation coincided with the visit of the Vargas Llosa Commission to the community.

On February 11, 1983, the second judicial proceeding was carried out in Uchuraccay, consisting of the exhumation of the body of Juan Argumedo García. This procedure took place on the same day that Mario Vargas Llosa was meeting with the peasants of Uchuraccay as part of the Investigation Commission's investigations. Juan Argumedo had been captured on January 23, 1983, 5 kilometers from Uchuraccay, at the point called Yuracyacu, and taken to the community for interrogation. He was later murdered along with the eight journalists on January 26, 1983, being considered by the community members as a collaborator or member of the PCP-SL.
