Military raid and rape in Ccochapata
Nighttime military raid in Ccochapata where thirty soldiers tortured, raped and executed an elderly woman after hanging her and breaking her arms. The perpetrators set her on fire before murdering her.
In February 1983, at approximately 12:00 midnight, thirty soldiers entered the home of a family in the Ccochapata annex. The soldiers asked about Shining Path members and subjected the inhabitants to torture and sexual violence. An elderly woman was hung from a beam with her hands tied behind her back, suffering broken arms. She was then taken down and raped on a table in the living room. After the torture, they poured kerosene on her and set her on fire. At approximately 11:00 a.m., one of the chiefs ordered the soldiers to take the old woman and kill her.
