During this expedition they detained 13 people, among them the lieutenant governor, accusing them of being collaborators of the PCP-SL. The detainees were later taken to Uchuraccay for trial. This action was part of the first inter-communal rebellion against the Communist Party of Peru-Sendero Luminoso in the highlands of Huanta province.
