Intercommunal expedition to Iquicha

Inter-communal expedition of residents of Uchuraccay and neighboring communities to Iquicha where 13 people accused of collaborating with Shining Path were captured and taken to Uchuraccay for trial.

Following an inter-communal agreement adopted two weeks earlier, the inhabitants of Uchuraccay and other neighboring communities such as Huaychao, Cunya, Paria and Carhuahurán went to Iquicha to capture members of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. During this expedition, they detained 13 people, among them the lieutenant governor, accusing them of being collaborators of the PCP-SL. The detainees were later taken to Uchuraccay for trial. This action was part of the first inter-communal rebellion against the Shining Path in the highlands of Huanta province.
