Navy establishes headquarters in Huanta's Municipal Stadium

On January 21, 1983, the Marine Infantry established its headquarters in the Municipal Stadium of the city of Huanta, under the command of Lieutenant Commander AP Alvaro Artaza Adrianzén. This detachment was in charge of controlling the province of Huanta within the framework of the Political Military Command of Ayacucho. From mid-1983 and during 1984, the Huanta valley was the object of an intense military deployment that resulted in numerous detentions, forced disappearances and arbitrary executions.
