Confrontation in Pampas
Clash between PCP-SL forces and an Army patrol in the district of Pampas, Tayacaja, which resulted in the death of 15 alleged subversives according to press reports at the time.
On January 15, 1983, one of the first confrontations between the subversive forces of the PCP-SL and an Army patrol took place in a spot in the district of Pampas, province of Tayacaja. This confrontation occurred shortly after the installation of the Political Military Command in Ayacucho and Huancavelica and Apurimac provinces in 1983, when the army barracks in Pampas became the center of counter-subversive operations in the province. According to the press at the time, 15 alleged subversives were reported killed in this confrontation. This event marked the beginning of the intensification of the armed conflict in the Tayacaja area.
