In January 1983, the first incursions and assassinations took place in the peasant communities of the department of Cuzco, specifically in the province of Acomayo. These events marked the beginning of the violence of the internal armed conflict in this area of the department. The province of Acomayo also suffered the death of peasants in Usnuyoc on April 28, 1986 and the attack on the Pomacanchis police post on February 7, 1987.
