Rape in Chacabamba
A woman from the Chacabamba annex was detained, tortured and raped by a captain and ten soldiers in 1983. The perpetrators threatened her so that she would not denounce the facts.
A woman was arrested and taken to the barracks where she was subjected to rape. According to the testimony, after being hanged and tortured, the Captain raped her first, followed by ten soldiers. The perpetrators threatened the victim, telling her not to tell anyone, not even her husband. The case illustrates the pattern of systematic sexual violence perpetrated by state agents during military operations in rural Andean areas.
