Withdrawal of PCP-SL from Manta and Vilcas

In 1983, the PCP-SL retreated from the area of Manta and Vilcas in Huancavelica when a military base was installed in the area. This withdrawal coincided with a moment of advance of the organization towards other zones such as the SAIS Cahuide.

The Communist Party of Peru-Sendero Luminoso withdrew from the area of Manta and Vilcas in the department of Huancavelica during 1983. This withdrawal coincided with the installation of a military base in the area. The movement of the PCP-SL from this area was part of a moment of advance of the subversive organization between 1983 and 1984 towards other zones, particularly towards the SAIS Cahuide region in Junín. This strategic withdrawal allowed the PCP-SL to reposition itself in other areas where it would later intensify its actions.
