Kidnapping of Valentín Loayza Cuya
Valentín Loayza Cuya was kidnapped in December 1982 in Tiquihua/Hualla, Fajardo. The area was under Shining Path control in 1983-1984, which led to the establishment of military bases.
Valentín Loayza Cuya was kidnapped in December 1982 in the Tiquihua/Hualla area, Fajardo province. During 1983 and 1984, Tiquihua was under the control of the 'unknown' (a term used to refer to the PCP-Sendero Luminoso). As a result of Shining Path control in the area, military bases were established in Tiquihua, Hualla and Chincheros to counter the subversive presence. This kidnapping occurred in the context of the expansion of the PCP-SL's territorial control in the province of Fajardo during 1982.
