On November 25, 1982, post office employees in Huancapi, Fajardo province, were killed by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. The victims were accused of 'soplonaje' (being informants). This murder was part of a series of executions that the PCP-SL carried out during November 1982 against authorities and people considered 'enemies' in the area. The event was part of the Shining Path's strategy to 'beat the countryside' by assassinating authorities and alleged collaborators of the State.
