First incursion by the Sinchis of the Civil Guard in Santo Tomas de Pata in search of hikers, resulting in the capture and torture of 5 community members who were later released.
In October 1982, the Sinchis of the Civil Guard raided Santo Tomas de Pata for the first time with the objective of searching for the Senderista column. During this operation, they captured 5 community members from Santo Tomas de Pata. The captured communards were later released, but only after being subjected to torture by the forces of law and order.
