Death of Edith Lagos in confrontation with police generates massive demonstrations

Death of Edith Lagos, one of the Shining Path members who escaped from the Huamanga prison, in a clash with members of the police. Following her death, there were massive demonstrations of support that included a funeral mass celebrated by the bishop of Ayacucho and a mass burial in which there was no shortage of Shining Path symbols. After her death, Edith Lagos was converted by public opinion into the best known figure of the Shining Path.
