Attack on ERPS Oxani
Attack by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso against the ERPS Oxani belonging to the SAIS Sollocota in the province of Azángaro, Puno, as part of its campaign to destroy associative enterprises in the highlands.
On August 24, 1982, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso attacked the Oxani Social Property Rural Enterprise (ERPS), which belonged to the Sollocota Social Interest Agricultural Society (SAIS), located in the province of Azángaro. This attack was part of the Shining Path's strategy to destroy the associative companies created by the agrarian reform, which they considered to be an expression of a semi-feudal society that should be demolished. The attack on Oxani was part of the PCP-SL offensive in the Quechua area of the department of Puno, which had begun that same month with the attack on the Umachiri police station in Melgar on August 18.
