Declaration of the State of Emergency in Lima and Callao on August 20, 1982, in response to the increase of subversive actions of the PCP-SL in the capital. This measure marked the beginning of a series of attacks and restrictions in Metropolitan Lima.

On August 20, 1982, a State of Emergency was declared in Lima and Callao, after it had already been decreed in some places in the interior of the country. This measure marked the beginning of a series of attacks in the capital and was part of the State's response to the increase in subversive actions by the PCP-SL. From 1982 onwards, the PCP-SL increased its actions in the Central Zone, attacking commercial centers during blackouts, as well as carrying out a series of attacks and assaults on police officers. The declaration of the State of Emergency was followed by successive curfews in the city.
