Andahuaylas declared an emergency area

This province, which borders the department of Ayacucho, was part of the main Regional Committee of the PCP-SL, made up of the departments of Huancavelica, Ayacucho and Apurimac. On December 30 of the same year, the province of Chincheros was created, dividing the former province of Andahuaylas. During this initial period of violence (1980-1983), the process of internal armed conflict in Apurimac was mainly concentrated in the province of Andahuaylas.
