On July 22, 1982, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso set fire to the Huancavelica SAIS warehouse in the district of Vilca, as part of their strategy to destroy the associative agrarian enterprises in the region.

On July 22, 1982, militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso set fire to the warehouse of the Sociedad Agraria de Interés Social (SAIS) of Huancavelica. This attack was part of a series of subversive actions in the Vilca basin that intensified during that year. The objective of these actions was to destroy the agrarian associative enterprises as part of the Shining Path strategy of eliminating the structures of the "old power". This fire occurred days after the same group had taken over the town of Ñuñungayo in Vilca on July 11, assaulting the communal store.
