Murder of mayor and businessman of Hualla

On July 11, 1982, in the town of Hualla, in the province of Victor Fajardo, Ayacucho, the mayor and a local merchant were murdered. The victims were accused of being informers for the authorities. This event occurred in the context of the intensification of political violence in Ayacucho during 1982, a year in which the highest number of terrorist attacks in the last two years was recorded, with 34 terrorist actions and five massive incursions into small towns.
