Murder of former governor and farmer in Concepción
On June 1, 1982, the PCP-SL assassinated a former governor and a peasant in Concepción, Vilcashuamán, after accusing them in a "popular trial" of having given shelter to policemen. This was part of the strategy of eliminating local authorities implemented by the Shining Path in the area.
On June 1, 1982, a Shining Path detachment entered Concepción, in the province of Vilcashuamán. After carrying out a "popular trial", the PCP-SL assassinated a former governor and a local peasant. The victims were accused of having given lodging to the police. This was part of the Shining Path's strategy of harassing local authorities and eliminating those they considered to be collaborators of the State. The assassination of the lieutenant governor of Concepción occurred on the same day, being part of a series of executions of authorities in the area during that period.
