Second attack on Tambo police post
Second attack by the Shining Path PCP to the Tambo police post on May 15, 1982, finding the town completely unguarded after the withdrawal of the entire police force to the provincial capital.
On May 15, 1982, the Shining Path PCP again attacked the Tambo police post, five months after the first attack on October 11, 1981. On this occasion, they found a town completely unguarded by the police, since the entire police force had been withdrawn to the provincial capital. This attack showed the weakness of the police posts, which had not been designed to withstand attacks of this type and were mostly made up of only half a dozen policemen. The abandonment of the police posts continued throughout 1982 in the area.
