On April 4, 1982, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso took the town of Andarapa as part of its main initial armed actions in the province of Andahuaylas. This action took place three days after the assault on the Civil Guard post of Pacucha (April 1, 1982). The seizure of Andarapa was preceded by the assault on the Andarapa hacienda and was part of a series of actions that included the execution of authorities and gamonales, as well as attacks on police posts. Four days after this takeover, on April 8, the Pincos cooperative was assaulted for the second time with almost total destruction of its facilities.
