Assault on CRAS prison in Ayacucho
PCP-SL assaults Ayacucho prison, forming its first military company
The PCP-SL carried out the assault on the prison (CRAS) in the city of Ayacucho, the most important military action in this period. In this action the main detachments that the SL had managed to form in its Main Regional Committee converged. It was as a result of this assault that the so-called '1st Company' of the Shining Path military was formed. This action demonstrated the growing operational capacity of the PCP-SL.
